I've never liked flip flops. They always seemed to hit a nerve between my toes that made them unbearable to wear.
I broke down and bought a pair this summer for using in the yard. I figured I was just going to be sitting or standing in one place pulling weeds so it wouldn't be a big deal. I'm pretty hard on shoes and I just couldn't risk ruining my more expensive pair that I get once per year.
I discovered that the more I wore them the less they hurt.
When we went to the river a couple of days ago I put them on and they didn't bother me at all. I was so excited that I could wear such a cheap pair of shoes and they were actually comfortable.
Well, when you wear them while walking in a river, they tend to float up and turn on your foot. They fold up and get sand and dirt in them making it very difficult to walk or keep them on your feet. Not that big of a deal until I got ready to go home and wondered why my toes were hurting.
This is what they did to the inside of my toes.
I only took pictures of one foot but the other looks the same.

Ouch. You never showed me that. It's funny, but I was also wearing thongs in the river and I walked the same distance as you, oh I forgot, even farther, since I had to go get the van and pick you up and still my feet look great, NO BLOOD! HeHe.
That looks painful.

I wear flip-flops all of the time, but I don't wear the cheap plastic ones. They are a lot harder on the feet.
