Finally!

While going through some files, I found a gift certificate to Picadilly's (a local nursery) for $75. We won it in a raffle or something a few years ago when Sarah attended Henderson Elementary school. There was no expiration date. So we were finally able to put a tree in our front yard. The previous owners had taken the original one out. I'm not sure if they took it with them or if it died but our house definitely needs a little curb appeal. This will help. The tree is a Maple Sensation. Fast growing and very hearty. In other words, hard to kill, hehe. Apparantly this is the best time to put in a tree because they are already in hibernation so there is no chance of them dying while trying to put them in or waiting for roots to take. Also the leaves are orange and red in the fall. I love those colors on trees. We actually bought the tree two weeks ago but picked it up from the nursery last Friday. After standing in the yard with the tree for 20 minutes while my husband measured and mulled it over about whether or not to plant it two inches further to the west, I got the shovel and started to dig. No need to talk about it. Just get it in. I'm so happy to look out my window and see something other than my van.

Yay! Happy moment to find a gift certificate like that. It's like found money!

Just think, in a few years you won't even be able to see your van.

I love trees. Wish I had a decent backyard; I'd fill it with trees of all shapes and sizes. Every house should have a tree in the yard.
