There is nothing I enjoy more than watching boys do boy things. Last summer I bought two shovels at a garage sale. They are small. Perfect for my kids. We don't have our backyard put in yet so my boys enjoy digging in the dirt. They haven't done a whole lot since last summer but today they got out the shovels and went in the back yard. I didn't hear from them in two hours. Mind you, I was keeping an eye on them. I'm not stupid. I know the kind of trouble boys get into especially when you don't hear from them. I had to take pictures. They dug a big hole and buried some treasure. I asked them what they buried but they told me I couldn't know. Well, I am looking at the cat and dog, so I guess we're good. I just love watching them using their imaginations. Next time I'll have to wet the dirt and see what they build me out of mud. Maybe they will build a pirate ship to go with the buried treasure.

I like how Adam is just standing there with the shovel like he is doing something important in the last picture!
Isn't it amazing how much fun kids can have in something as simple and cheap as dirt. Maybe we should all stop buying our kids toys and just send them outside!
