Hatching the egg

We have a family of pigeons living under the eaves of our roof.

My husband hates them because of the bird poop down the side of the house and he thinks they will clog up the gutters so that it causes problems later.

I love them. When I'm in my bathroom I can hear them cooing. I love the sound of their chatter. It comforts me. I love the idea of baby animals living at my house. We have found numerous hatched eggs on our driveway and a couple that didn't hatch but were cracked from the fall.

Today John found one in the grass, unbroken.

My boys were so excited! They've been trying to warm it up for the last 45 minutes, sure that if they keep it warm it will hatch. I tried to tell them that it probably had already died from the cold but they're going to try anyway. I love how they turn all motherly all of a sudden. Adam is sure that he can teach his baby pigeon to talk. Who know, maybe it will hatch and learn to talk. Maybe we can go on the Oprah show with it. hehe

How sweet of them to try and hatch the egg. Good luck!

Good luck with the egg. I think it is sweet that Adam already has a name picked out.
